Hi guys, to be honest i don't know much about raising chickens, but here we are.

this chick was always the fastest growing and most dominant chick out of the three, but just today, we noticed that she had curled toes, and I haven't found too much on how to fix it. right now, i'm going to go buy band-aids so i can make a shoe for her, but what do you guys think? how necesary is this? how long does this normally last? and anything else you can say to help me learn to take care of these.

here are pictures

this is her when walking on the floor, she looks fine to me ( normally) but she sits down a lot, instead of standing up

mine had that and I made a shoe with a dime and duct tape, no other tape would hold the chick always managed to get it off.

Mine was from holding in my shirt, it was the only chick that hatched and it would cry and cry, I had to take it every where with me. I don't know what causes it some have said the way it was in the egg, not turning enough.

I really don't know what the cause is, but I know the dime and tape helped mine.

Good luck!

I tried the cardboard trick, but I found that just a band aid works better. I put the chicks foot onto a thin cardboard triangle. I splayed the toes out then used the bandaid adhesive portion to lock it down to the cardboard. What I found was, the cardboard came off later, also was hard for her to walk. But the bandaid is still on and still keeping her toes straight. When this comes off i will try two layers of bandaid.

My chick walks better with just the adhesive area holing her toes straight than she did with the cardboard. Plus, it allows her foot to flex.
