mine go under the car, but when they find nothing there, they go somewhere else. if the car is started, they come out.

they only come swarming if their bellies are empty. once the bellies are full, they walk around the yard and nibble grass and bugs etc.

but, if they hear me yell, "hear chickuhhhhns" they will come flapping, or anything orange, since the feed bucket is orange...holy cow it's funny.

they don't follow me to the mailbox, but the banties do! and they hang out with my son while he is waiting for the bus. bus picks up James, and they hustle back up the drive.

I find my chickens to be pretty car savy. One of their favorite spots in the world is under cars, well the ones with ground clearance that is. If people get into cars, they get out from under them, and if cars they know are moving, they slowly step aside, while cars that are foreign aren't messed with since they know which cars will and wont try to run them over.

Oh, yeah, she's LOST IT. Right now my biggest dilemma is trying to decide when to place the order. How long will the layers in the brooder need to stay there, a month? It's c-c-c-c-cold out at night.

OK, so if my birds are a week old and they take six weeks to feather out, that's mid November? I'd have them arrive mid November at the soonest, maybe even early December. Then they'd be in a barn in the brooder. Is that too late?

Are you going to do any cornish, or solely freedom dinners...I mean Rangers?
I don't even HAVE mine yet, and I've already been plannig for the next batch;)
In fact- I JUST got of Welp's website;) Someone on here said they got theirs for under $1 each- I can't remember where...

I do want to try some cornish next time though.

That's what I went through with my first batch- just be sure to keep everything well managed so they don't stink. My wife DID NOT want to deal with the smell, but after my first batch of meat birds was (mostly) odor free, she doesn't care how many I get now!
