I think that was the problem when i had them in the plastic tote with only the small heat plate. How tightly are they packing themselves in under the heat plates? Could crushing/suffocation be a possibility?
They're so cute. I'm envious because I don't have enough money or time to be able to get an incubator to hatch any babies.View attachment 4288995Not enough food could have been a possibility for weaker ones who couldn’t fight their way to the mason jar lids when I refilled them.
I pulled the lids out and put a regular chick feeder in. Hopefully none of the tinier ones decide to crawl into it and get trapped.

They are positively precious!!View attachment 4288995Not enough food could have been a possibility for weaker ones who couldn’t fight their way to the mason jar lids when I refilled them.

Are they definitely spreading themselves out between both heat plates?I think that was the problem when i had them in the plastic tote with only the small heat plate.
Since moving them to the bigger pen with the two heat plates I don’t think it’s an issue any longer.
Yep I always find some under both when I lift them up to check. Are they definitely spreading themselves out between both heat plates?
