What about other weapons? I 'read' my dog all the time, even if I don't hear something outside, she does. Your dog probly will do the same even a non-aggressive one will let you know if they hear something. Then you can arm yourself with something, maybe a knife or ball bat, club. Have you discussed this with your DH? Maybe he can suggest something else too.

I have been to Guam twice, and I love it. Friendly people, lovely beaches, My fave to snorkel was Gab Gab beach.

It was pretty peaceful back in the early 90's when I was there, hope it is still the same. You should be OK!
