I'm Sending Feed to be Analyzed

I really thought this would get a laugh from you Perris. We had all those European examples to learn from, and we learned.... nothing. Then made it worse.

The food safety and modernization law mentioned in one of the links? Mostly labelling and tracking requirements. Its been great for the plaintiff's bar bringing class actions, but even USDA and FDA admit its had almost no impact on either overall food safety, or on tracing sources of contamination after the fact. Its too much data for anyone to monitor, the really important stuff is easily lost in the noise.
ah, sorry to disappoint. It was the last thing I read before bed, but I'm catching up now, so should be more on the button for any posted after (on the other hand, just on first tea, so hardly firing on all cylinders yet) :p

One thing to think about is the push for the vegan plant-based foods, specifically JustEgg. They are pushing it because of the cost of eggs. “Same great taste” yeah right 🙄
....

You do realise that this is direct competition for the egg industry, right? Trying to move away from bad commercial farming? It isnt to compete with backyard chicken keepers. That makes zero sense, unless the big farms were being hit, which they aren't.

Not being rude, but its getting so tiring hearing so many accusations and baseless slander, while there is still not a shred of evidence.

I still can find NO ONE who is willing to send me their affected feed. I just joined 2 more FB pages for chickens and have sent out requests. So far, no one I can find is concerned about their feed.

I'll keep trying.
I would like to send you feed. How much you need and dose it cost a lot? I’ll have to look at what I have left.

I've read a lot of accounts of, "I switched feed and they started laying the next day!"

But to be fair, I've also read a few that say the eggs started coming a few weeks after the switch.
Yeh I started getting eggs 3 weeks after I switched and my bird being active again. They finally put on feathers after mouthing for months. And they are putting some weight back on. I really don’t know if it’s the wether because o live in FL and we did get t a lot of short cold day but they usually only moly once. Normally we get eggs through yeh winter here even when it in the 30s. So I hope we find the cause and not just a quick fix.

It's interesting that no one wants to send you their afflicted feed, because I see plenty who say they switched and wouldn't you know the next day ... 🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚.

(editing because I see some have sent samples your way - and don't want to get jumped!)

If the results reflect the label, the naysayers will say it's the batch you got, because some batches are 👌and that's why some people don't have issues. 🤪 Luck of the draw.

Btw, I feed kalmbach flock maker 20% and my girls haven't laid since they molted in the fall. Then, just last week when I changed nothing about my feeding routine I found an 🥚. My other girls still refused to give up the goods. Until the other day 🥚🥚my egg laying doubled! I'm still holding out for my last one or um, she's holding out on me.

(Sadly, I'm down to only 3 chickens. Plus 2 new bantams I just picked up, but I don't know if the hen is laying yet - the guy wasn't 💯 on her age and the darn rooster will probably never lay an 🥚for me no matter what feed he gets. 🤣 And, I guess nobody cares about what ducks are eating these days. 😉)

In all seriousness, I'm here for the results. :thumbsup

Same experience same feed. I also feed Kalmbach's 20% Flock Make and I was getting 1-2 eggs a day through the winter. Then last week I had an egg boom and collected almost 3 dozen eggs in a 7 day period.

I'm not dismissive of the idea that the feed may be altered. It absolutely could be. That's why I am TRYING to get my hands on the "bad" feed to have it analyzed. No one seems to want to help me out, though

But I'm a lil dismissive of the idea that this is all being done deliberately to shut down small scale farmers or price gouge on eggs or to starve people into submission.
If I had feed I'd send it. I've always used a different brand anyway. And my chicks never really stopped laying.

Ok - absolutely NO offense in this comment, but...

If someone says their feed is bad and then they send you "some" of it. They will have had the opportunity to taint it and make themselves correct.

I think what you're doing is awesome, but if you're trying to be scientifically accurate - which I think you are - then you need to purchase the same brand from a store and not take a possibly tainted sample.

I'm sure Sherry is on the up and up, but to show her to be correct, she can't have supplied an open example sample of her feed. She also deserves to be correct.

I'm on everyone's side, I'm just trying to get a good test.
Now THAT sounds like a conspiracy theory. I wouldn't even know how to 'taint' my own feed.
