She is just one of our red sex-links that we got this spring for egg production. I noticed she is always sitting in the nest boxes on eggs, and I didn't really care too much till recently. I tried putting her in a bit of water to try and break her of the habit, but then noticed she still went in and sat, even wet. So I took her back out and realized she is getting picked on quite a bit. During feeding time I observed, and she was ran off by more then a few other birds. her feathers on her neck aren't flat anymore from the other birds so I took her out and decided I would try her at brooding. I made her a pen in a rabbit hutch just out side the house, she can see my other chicken flock, set her up with some feed and water, went and collected some eggs from my free rangers put them in a rabbit nest box and with in seconds she was in and sitting, and 24 hours later she hasn't moved at all. So I hope it works.Cool Im going on day 4 so ours will hatch roughly arouund the same time.I remember the first time I hatched eggs I was so impatient lol.Thats an interesting mix what breed is your broody? Thanks good luck with yours too!
