That is not crazy! I go out at midnight alot of times to check on my babies out in the quail house.
Just checked on the new babies, 10 in total and one egg that must have been layed later then the first clutch. After candleing them I found that out. A little while longer on that one. I thank I will give that one and one of the setting hens to a friend. It seams like when one of my hens went broody all did, well all but one anyway.

Yeah!!
I'm selling 12 Buff Orpington hens this morning, so won't be back until noon!
Quote:
I have 3 peafowl eggs, and 4 Olive Egger eggs in the 'bator. One of the OE eggs is zipped. The other three eggs haven't done anything. The peaeggs are doing anything either.
I hatched out 10 OE chicks yesterday, this one pipped at the pointy end, so it's taking him a wee bit longer to hatch.
Then I have 6 other pea-eggs in one of my GQF's, then I have a whole tray full of Buff Orpington and EExGame eggs, and then a few bantam eggs. I think that is it at the moment.
I started 13 eggs at 4 PM today -- BC Marans, Buff Orps and Black/Blue/Splash Orps -- my very first hatch in a Hovabator I got for a bargain price last year. I am so excited! So, on may 25, i will be a new Momma!
My eggs from "bargain" on BYC came beautifuly wrapped, in a litel boc inside a bigger box with peanuts in each. Every one perfect! which was great, because I had to have my outdoor cat ,Miss Wu, put down today. She adopted me when I mved in here with my husband 6 years ago and saw her come out from under the neighbors shed, all skin and bones. She was a gorgous black & white longhair who got nice and plump. She had a presence, she did. She refused to come into the house until this past winter, even sayed inher little den on the porhc last year thru the 3 -foot snows, but she would let me pick her up and carry her around to my heart's content, or sit in my lap for hours. She never went into heat, so she may have been spayed by someone. What a mystery! She had that grumpy persian peronality, but was not a purebred. She loved only me. I had her vaccinated and all, and took her into the vet today because I could tell she was in pain and had stopped eating. Turns out she had an abcess in her mouth, and we thought, well that's curable. But then my vet called and said blood work revealed she had feline leukemia and if she bit another cat (I have a kitten who is the very devil, and tried to get her to play, and another elderly cat) that they might get it to, so I had to chose. A "Sophie's choice". At least she is not suffering now, but I will miss her very, very much indeed.
