I'm sick to my stomach--PLEASE tell me this isn't a worm--PIC INCLUDED

That is true, and for the ones that resist the ivermectin family fenbendazole is the next one to rotate too. However given 2 months I'm not sure it's resistance, but I'd still rotate if I was going to worm.

No wormer is approved for use in laying hens or meat birds. If I did not see symptoms or signs that concerned me I would not treat. As posted all farm critters have a worm load, treat only the infestations that cause harm or your making the meds ineffective for the day you need them.

I have always given my parrots dried peppers, they are high in Vit E, and a irritant for worms. I have tossed a few to my chickens and ducks and they love them. They can get expensive though at three bucks a bag. One always could just mix cayenne pepper in the food with the same effect I would think. This summer I am going to try to grow them, our soil here is week but with the poo from the chickens I might have a chance.

Canned pumpkin and whole pumpkin are suppose to be great for worm prevention. I have been using it and not seen a worm yet. I used it WITH DE also. I'm trying to stay away from the meds so I'm hoping it continues to work.

, but thats a worm.

Okay I'm going to the store this morning and buying pumpkin and dried peppers. I'll mix them together and give my chickies a treat!!!

I do feed my chickens whole pumpkins in the fall. They love them!! I'm sure they will like Spicey Canned Pumpkin!!

I really like the holistic approach myself...I definitely agree that the more we use wormers, the less effective they become.
Same with antibiotics for sure. I have always used a good source of colloidal silver(on myself and all my animals), with very good success.
What about diatomaceous earth for internal parasites?

I have horses and worming them is absolutely necessary every 8 weeks. I take a tube of Ivermectin horse wormer (about $3) and squirt 250 lbs worth in an empty clean milk jug, fill it almost full of water and shake it really really well. It won't mix that great. Add 1/4 cup of sugar for taste and then put it in as the only water for your flock. Just leave it there for about 3 days. This mixture kills all of the bird lice in addition to the internal worms. To me it is more important to keep the worm population down in my birds than to half as:( it with pumpkin seeds and diatomaceous earth. They work, but not like Ivermectin. I do this about every 3 months. Kind of crude but works.
