I'm sick !!!

The Royal Palm and her 4 babies are doing fine. I was going to try to get some pics this afternoon but she would hide them under her when she saw me approaching the pen so I left her be.

I had too much going on to deal with the Bourbon hen but the smell of the bad eggs was really bad. I am going to take her off the nest in the morning and try to get her cleaned up. If she remains broody I will take a few of the eggs out of the incubator and put them under her.

Anybody got any tips on how to wash rotten egg funk off a hen?

Had the rotten egg thing happen with the Slate hen. I waited until she went out to eat and coated the fetid clutch with DE (keep a coffee can full in the turkey shed for mixing with wood chips). Didn't kill the smell immediately, but dried it up and was able to get the mess removed and the eggs turned before she got back. Smell was gone in the morning and she hit the scrape as well.

Good luck!

Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (fossil shell flour). Food additive/drying agent/relatively effective, relatively benign insecticide (mites/lice).

A little bit goes a long way.
