I explained to dh recently that since I had 40+ eggs in the bator, that I would soon be needing a new coop (maybe several!). He's a procrastinator.

"We'll get it done," was his response. We just hatched 5 new Cochin chicks, so I was most concerned about their housing and suggested we build something small just for them to start with.

Since I'm a real "go-getter" and hate putting things off, I started building my new coop myself a couple days ago and was doing a dang good job! Up on stilts, floor done, and two walls complete. With thunderstorms moving in, I was in a rush to get things done and a roof over my little coop, so I cheated... with the neighbor man!!

Mr. Paul has been watching the excitement in our backyard since I started building Coop #1 and was a little amused that we were getting chickens.
When I built Coop #2, I think he was more than amused... this time maybe a little scared! Today he hollered over the fence. "What'cha doing? Building another chicken house?" Yep!

I kept saying, "I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm having fun."

Then I'd ask a blonde question like, "Can I cut this tin roofing with my jigsaw?"

It wasn't long before Mr. Paul decided to come to my rescue before I hurt myself.

Now... DH appears and see Mr. Paul helping me with Coop #3 and decides to check things out. Before I knew what happened, these two guys finished my chicken coop!! I still have a few minutes details to tend to, but all four walls are up, window installed, door on, tin roof on, and the first coat of paint has been applied... and all before dark!

Am I good or what??

You are good! Great idea I will have to apply this with my boyfriend but first i will need to find a passerby who would be curious enough to help me "not know what im doing" lol!

LOL... I'll have to give that a try. DH works way to hard and way too many hours to help me. And I truly don't know what I'm doing... but all these posts on "how to" here on BYC has me convinced that maybe I can do it myself. But hey... I'm not beyond going into my local feed store early in the morning when all the farmers are gathered around the coffee pot. I can simple ask the group a similar question. Those farmer boys... they're a great lot... I bet one would step up and help a "poor helpless blonde" gal out. Ya think?
