I just put my eggs into lockdown, and I candled them to see what was developing so I could toss the empties. Well, out of 15 BLRW, only 2 developed.

Out of 7 Black Mottled Cochins, only 1 developed. Out of 3 Lavender Cochins, 2 developed. Out of 11 Seramas, about 8 developed. Both my Cinnamon Red and both my White Cochins made it, and two of my Frizzled Cochins made it into lockdown. And at least 2 of the Black Mottled d'Uccles. I was so disappointed with the BLRW that I started to lose count on the Bantam eggs as I was counting them. I really, really wanted the BLRW, and now I'm so broke I won't be able to afford more eggs til next year. I know my chances of getting both to hatch, and they aren't good. I'm happy about the Seramas and the d'Uccles, but I am really upset about the Black Mottled Cochins. I had quite a few of those in there and they were all clear but for one. I had absolutely NO temp problems, and I use the same incubator, turner, and thermostat that I used for all my hatches, and my two previous hatches I got a 73% hatch rate on both of them with shipped eggs. I am just so depressed right now. It's my disappointment for the year. I just wanted to snag some BLRW cause everyone else was grabbing them up, and I finally got some, I was soooooo excited to FINALLY, after a year getting some eggs. I don't mean to whine, I'm just extremely disappointed at the moment. I hope and pray the rest hatch. I have maybe 15 in lockdown now. 2 are from my own eggs. At least THOSE made it!

You are quite right. I've been having a decent run with shipped eggs lately, and they all looked good when I put them in the bator, but I don't know, maybe there was something I missed. I'm just disappointed.

I feel your pain. My first hatch (mutt eggs) this spring went off without a hitch. The next 2 hatches of pure breed eggs, not so good. 4 out of 8 hatched. One died a week later. The other, 2 out of 12 hatched and one of those is having issues and not sure it's gonna make it despite all of my efforts. No temp or humidity problems on any of my hatches. So

for you and me both!

Yeah, all through February and early March I lost maybe $200 worth of shipped eggs. NOTHING hatched, time after time, and I was losing faith. Then I won some EE eggs in a bid and 11 out of 15 hatched. 8 made it and are 5 weeks old now, then I bought more eggs, 36 total. Of those 36, 35 made it into lockdown. 27 hatched, 24 made it. I was very pleased. So I tried 2 more times. I got the BLRW eggs, and then I got the Bantam eggs cause I wanted my bator full if I was going to use it. It's going to be my last hatch of shipped eggs for quite awhile cause I'm broke now. I'll only be able to incubate my own eggs from here on out, which is fine, cause I am about ready to shut down both bators. ( I have goose eggs in the other bator. Already had one of those explode on me yesterday morning.

Have 8 thriving with embryos that go into lockdown the 2nd) I did promise my kids that I would let them hatch out some of our own Bantams one last time. Then, if I get chick fever later in the year, I can just fire up the bators again then. But that'll probably end of summer, closer to fall. I have to finish selling off all the chicks I already have! So far only the Cochins are selling, nothing else is. Oh well, I have the room, they can stay.

I have had some miserable hatches from shipped eggs, so this time around I put all my own eggs in there. And believe it or not, I have 18 out of 18 barred rocks developing and 2 out of 6 pekin duck eggs.... I needed the boost!
