no, dont bathe them, i leave them in the bator till they dry on their own, i can't say why yours are matted. sorry, wish i could help. they should fluff up.. ref to the days if you feel you need to help the hatch, go for it on day 21, these little boogers can be a pain in the butt to hatch...
