I'm so old I Remember when:

Wallpaper was all the rage. I remember growing up with roosters on the kitchen walls, eagles on the dining room walls, and some sort of funky pink birds on the bathroom walls.
And colonial patterns on the cushions of the spindle leg living room couch set against dark paneling on the walls.

Wallpaper story: About 26 years ago we were having a house built. Close to completion, the dear hubby gave me a lovely diamond necklace for our anniversary. I looked at him and asked, "would it offend you to return it........I'd like to get some wallpaper for the house instead". The look on his face was absolutely priceless. HA!!! -never seen such a dropped jaw and perplexed stare. :lau

Practical woman! I love it. In lieu of a wedding ring, I had the kitchen remodeled. We don't do jewelry.

Yet, people don't stay home and still drive and still eat out. And go more and more in debt

Yes, they do. They have taught cursive for years. There was a time when the public school system got out of teaching it but they went right back to teaching it when they realized that was a dumb idea
Some do, Most don't. Our "formal" cursive teaching is limited to a handful of teachers who hand out cursive worksheets as "free-time fillers." Not surprisingly, they're more popular than coloring sheets, crosswords and word searches!

I once told my daughter that I admired how her generation was never afraid to share their inexperience with the world.
When teaching about the Civil Rights Movement, we watched a video about the Baltimore riots. It was just another boring video until I started talking about them first-hand. I had family caught up in both sides of the chaos, and the only info we had about them was what we saw on TV and a few cautiously worded phone calls shared across party lines. It was scary!
