I'm So Torn!!! :-( Update post 18

To sum it up in a nutshell, I have the option to go home and visit family and spend 4500 to do so; or stay here (overseas) and visit them next year and save the 4500. I haven't seen them in a year, but that is so much money!!! And even though some of our family is almost demanding that we come home, they aren’t offering to help with plane tickets... I'm so frustrated, I can't for the life of me make up my mind and I hate it! I should not have to chose, I didn't ask to live overseas, the military made me so why aren’t they paying for me to visit family!

As a side note, we don’t have military MAC flights available here so that is not an option.

Well. If it were me Id probly wait. $4500 is alot of money to spend. If they arent willing to help out yet are demanding they have the easy part. I personally would wait. Just buy them some nice gifts with some of the $4500 you save

I know that is a lot of money, and I surly could not afford that much. Maybe you can ask the family to hold a fundraiser to get you home! (keeping it in the family) I would ask, hey if you want to see us so bad, help us get home!
You would think that the military would have some sort of discount.

I agree, stay where you are and wait. Just make more frequent phone calls, emails and texts.

Blame it on the economy...

I mean, what if there were an urgent thing you needed the $4500 for. You would be blaming yourself and possibly your family for making you spend that money.

Take a bunch of pictures and make a book via shutterfly or something.

Get creative...Like take pictures of you at a restaurant with a empty place setting, you & family on a ferris wheel with an empty cab, you hanging on the couch. Put together the book: it takes about 30 minutes.

Title it "Missing you" and "Wish you were here".

If you buy coupons on ebay, each book will cost $15. WAAAAAAAAYYY cheaper than $4500, and might goad them into visiting!
