It was definitely an honest mistake. She's distraught about it and has a massive flock to treat now. I do believe she checked the birds for lice and other mites, but since she was holding them by the legs she missed these ones. I shouldn't have been so angry (though I was probably more angry at myself), it was just super disappointing after having driven that far and paid a big chunk of change. But mistakes happen. Learning experiences and all that

Don't ever get grain mites. We had those last summer, and I debated spraying my bed.

On a good note, what a pretty little hen! I can see why you drove so far to get her. At least you caught it all super early on vs months from now...

Agreed . But I'll still be able to tell that the mites are gone as long as there's no build up?

Gonna be hard to tell if they are dead or not. I suppose no further buildup would be a sign, might not be immediately apparent so just slather her legs in ointment or oil every few days for a couple weeks.

I hesitated to post this, because I know that you're personally VERY against this method... I made a judgement call, because I simply do not have the mental capacity (or time) to fight this for months. So it was either culling her or trying the gasoline. I feel optimistic. And it truly did not seem to bother her.

I wouldn't do it, but not sure where you got the idea that I was "VERY" against it.
Are those pics before and after one gasoline dip....nothing else done to them?
