Im having quite the time determining which a few of my chicks belong to which breed hen. (Dad is an EE) They are two weeks old and getting their markings. I had color coded them with colored leg bands, but they've all lost them but one of the BR boys. The Morans mix babies are pretty evident and distinguishable. The coloring is prominent and they all have feathered feet. No guessing there. Aside from sex, but i was told theres no distinguishable traits between males and females this young. The Barred Rock boys are very evident too, as they're sex linked. I got black and blue boys in those. The females, however, are what I'm having difficulty with. I know i got two blue (grey) pullets out of the BR eggs. But i also got an odd blu morans baby too. Im not sure which of the blue chicks are which. Maybe the darker grey one is the Morans and the light blue one is the BR? The darker grey one has black eyes and almost black feet. Any ideas? All the EE babies are pretty evident. The next quiz will be which chick came from which EE momma! 🥰

Also, is there a breed gene that would cause a couple of the chicks to be MUCH fluffier than the rest? I have two camo colored ones with super fluffy heads. Almost covers their eyes. One of the lesser fluffy ones are pictured. ...or is this just difference with no genetic factors.

Photo 15. The two fluffy ones are the same size as the rest, they've just been super fluff since hatching

For the blue chicks you are confused about, if they have feathered feet, they are marans mixes, if not, barred rock mixes.

The fluffy faced chick is due to having beard and muffs.

There was a blue Morans mix without feathered feet. I wrote its hatch and day old colors as "grey/silver and white chest." But im thinking now that it is the darker grey one since it has a white chest and black legs. The light blue one closely resembles the blue BR roo, so im taking it shes the blue BR.they all have beards and muffs so i dont think thats the case. This ones is fluffy everywhere, even on top of head.
