I finally got rid of all the A&M wanabee's.
so what do I do?
Put all the eggs that where left in the bator!!
Here I go again.

I want quail, just not sure what kind yet.
I have the cages, waters and feeders.
Is there a quail that sells better that others?

Wanabe's. I like that. Sounds like you bought from the same place as me

I still have all my feeders, waterers, cages, etc. so I am trying out some jumbo Bob's this spring. If that doesn't satisfy my meat needs, the cages are getting ripped down with the largest hammer I can find and will stick to chickens

I bought mine at a Swap meet.

Didn't plan on doing it, so I never looked into the size of what they should be.

Good thing is I learned a lot from them and I love hearing them crow, sing or what ever it is called.

I have some a&m eggs coming from someone that supposedly got them direct from the original breeders...... I'll let you know how big they are in about 3 months

What do you mean with wanna bees.
Did you had the buttons?
I have my birds for meat and eggs and use the japanese cotournix (not buttons) breed for appetizers. I think they are a nice size and easy to clean. They taste good too.
I have try to raise bob white and did only like the bob white sound they make but they did not mature fast and it was not worth the money to put in it before they are part of the dinner. They where small meat and did not taste as good as the cotournix that I could process in 9 weeks.

I don't think selling any birds out of your backyard is profitable. Or you have to be a big hatcherie.
I have chickens , ducks and quails and sell them for extra feed money or if I want to buy some more chicks.
The feed you put in those bird is in my case more money then I ask for them when I'm selling them. People just don't want to pay a prize for a bird unless it is a parrot or fancy bird.

Most people will buy the cotournix for meat and eggs.
The bobwhite will go for dogtraining / hunting
Ducks go most of the time for meat.
chickens most people buy those for meat or eggs

Maybe before you start , research on craigslist in your area what kind of birds people want to buy. So that you will have people that will buy your birds.

Craig's list works very well close to a big city but out in the boonies is pretty useless. When the last week of Farm and Garden fits on one page theyre is very little to research.
Living nearer to a large population really helps with selling but I really like the National Forest Trails and am happy to eat our extras....

Wanna Bees, they where white with specks and small, maybe 10 oz
I was hoping for a larger sized bird
and the meat was light for a quail but not white.
I sell to help suport the chickens, quail and pheasants that we have collected.
