I'm sure it's Bumblefoot

I spotted my favorite hen, Beth limping this morning. Brought her inside and discovered this...

I'm sure it's bumblefoot. What oral antibiotic should I give her? What should I soak her foot in? What is the best method of bandaging it?

Looks like Bumble Foot to me. Mine had that. I cleaned it. I attempted to drain it with no luck. I used peroxide on it. When I realized that mine was not getting better no matter what I did, I gave up. Eventually the dot in the middle started going thru the top of the foot, like it stepped on a thorn from a rose bush or something. At that point, the foot was mostly taken up by the growth. Again I tried cleaning it and separating it from the foot without killing my hen. Eventually it came loose and left a large hole in the center of the foot as if this hen had an ear plug or something. I just watched the foot and cleaned it with peroxide over and over. Today, that hen is alive and her foot looks normal. I do not recomend what I did. Look at the clubs advice under illnesses, ect. See what is adviseable. Good luck to you.

Mine recovered after soaks in antibacterial soap solution. Chlorhexidine is supposed to be highly recommended as it's meant for staph infections. Then I carefully try to pull the scab off with tweezers and cover with neosporin and a bandage. Good luck! It's not the hardest problem to fix (assuming your bird is calm Should take less than a week to heal. I was told by my vet to go easy with or avoid peroxide as it damages tissue - maybe dilute with water? I'm sure it's a great disinfectant.
When I bandage - I use vetwrap which sticks to itself but I cut it in long strips, wrap around the leg and then through the toes and back up to the leg - stays on great! I cover the wound with a waterproof bandaid first.

You are supposed to pull off the scab and squeeze out the plug of infection in her foot.

Irrigate the hole with an iodine wash - not peroxide.

Pack the hole left with neoporin and bandage it to keep it clean as it heals.

Peroxide damages the tissues. I would suggest soaking the foot in a iodine or betadine solution before and after scab and puss plug removal.

Bumble foot is a staph infection so you need to wear gloves so you don't pass it around, dispose of things properly, boil any utensils you use and practice very precautionary measures.

I hope she gets better for you.

You can help her heal after the procedure by giving her a vitamin boost, putting ACV in her water and offering her treats of yogurt, cook rice, cooked egs and meat scraps.
