What does your hen prefere for nesting : timothy grass or straw
Which is better?
Is there anything else that can be used?

My girls prefer straw before grass here, but really hadn't offered anymore than that.

I've only used straw and pine bedding. I prefer the pine bedding. The hens use what I provide in the nest boxes.

I've always used timothy hay, mainly because I usually have some sort of livestock that eats hay....

I use pine shavings. Seems to keep things dry and clean.

I use a mixture of shavings and horse hay.

i usually use straw, but i filled a tub with pine shavings, the eggs that were laid in the shavings had to be rinsed when brought into the house cuz all the shaivngs stuck to the outside. so I personally prefer straw.
