The best way to learn to candle is practice. You'll get an idea of what you're looking for, especially if you can compare a properly developing egg with a clear or blood ring egg; the difference should be pretty obvious. My first hatches were of Silkie eggs which were easy to see into; the hardest are EE eggs or dark brown eggs.
