When I'm certain the embryo has died, I take the egg out. Eggs with blood rings can go bad and the last thing you want is an exploding egg in there. Stinky!

The best way to learn to candle is practice. You'll get an idea of what you're looking for, especially if you can compare a properly developing egg with a clear or blood ring egg; the difference should be pretty obvious. My first hatches were of Silkie eggs which were easy to see into; the hardest are EE eggs or dark brown eggs.

if you are uncertain it is better to wait a few days and candle again. Only take them out if you are certain they've died or if they begin to smell or weep

how am i certain that they are dead!

how long have they been in the incubator?
if it is a blood ring it can be caused by bacteria that has gotten into the egg. did you was the eggs? sometimes it just happens.

no i didnt wash the eggs. 1 had a crack, i wasnt exspecting it to live. the other was fine as far as i know. thy have been in ther for 11 days now. do u think i should just start over!

You are really the only one that can make that call as we are unable to actually see the eggs.

I would candle again tonight or tomorrow night, if they were my eggs. Make sure the room is dark as possible and your candling light is the brightest one you can possibly find. Look for veining and/or movement. The egg with the blood ring should be taken out.

Hope you see signs of life
