A lady at my church has to down size her flock and asked me if I could take her three black silkies hens...and with out a thought in my head I said of course...How long should keep them apart...I plan on putting them in a dog kennel in the pen is that too close???or should I keep them in another spot until I know they are healthy...

Keep the separate about a month and not in the pen with the others.

Best to quarantine them from your own flock for about 4 weeks just to be on the safe side......the introduce them into your hen coop at night after yours have gone to bed...that's what I do anyway and so far have not had a problem...good luck

Keep them seperate away from the flock for a month, then keep them seperate within sight of your flock, the closer the better, then slowly let them in.....
