Good day Folks,
My name is Nate, I live in Wisconsin. I have a cabin Im building on 40 acres in Northern Wisconsin. Its a project I started with my Dad 5 years ago, unfortunately he passed away 2 years ago, but Im finishing it the way he would want.
I have a small apple orchard that I will be expanding to roughly 1800 sq ft.
This is where chickens come in.
My hope is to create an environment where chickens are safe and happy, but dont necessarily need supervision for weeks at a time. Where they take care of the orchard and provide a nice chicken dinner in the fall.
I have some ideas on automated watering and feeding solutions, and the orchard is already fenced in to keep deer and rabbits out.... should keep chickens in too! I plan to add a steel mesh apron around the edge to keep raccoons and such out.
I have lots of questions, but Ill save them for after I do some reading!
