Impact/ sour crop on baby chick, please help me!

You can try Corid, unless they're on medicated feed. It won't hurt to treat them for it even if they don't have coccidiosis. I wonder if you saw intestinal lining. Worms are usually ingested, as far as I know. I don't know dosage for worms for chicks. You might do a search of BYC for that. I'll see what I can find.

At first I gave them medicated feed, but I then decided to switch to non-medicated feed and gave them Corid solution. They’re now on day 4. The speckled Sussex seems to move around a little, but definitely still acts lethargic.

I also found info on worming chickens and gave them both VAlbazen. I had an expired Valbazen, 2 years old. I’m crossing my fingers it’s still as effective....

How's your little chick faring?

The sick one moved around a little more, but she still hunched, stationed in one place. She hasn’t shown any interest in the feed at all yesterday. I cooked egg, and she ate that, and she showed interest in dried meal worms.

I had to syringe her the Corid as I don’t see her drinking much. However, the first 2 days of that, I didn’t know and made a mistake of also giving her yogurt. Also, I didn’t know and I gave her the same Corid solution for 2 days without making a fresh batch every day.

I made so many mistakes I hope she can pull through!

And about the worm, let me tell you it wasn’t a pleasant finding.... The night before, I put down baby cloth diaper to where the slept for the night. Next morning, I took it out to clean By hosing it down. At first glance, it was a skinny, dried out thingy. I thought it was dried out droppings. As soon as the water hit it, it MOVED! I thought I must’ve seeing things! I hosed it again with water and it moved Again! I was terrified and was so scared I immediately killed it and now know I should have taken a picture of it!!

So I know for sure she has worms. Looking online, I suspect it was either a round, or an eye worm. No doubt in my mind that was worm. Another thing is my hubby got her from a very bad environment, a local feed store that does not have a good record of good husbandry. He got her home and she was covered in some dried up droppings, she looked very lethargic. He thought he picked a good one since she had a full stomach...

I just hope the Valbazen works.... I honestly am not surprised if she has both Cocci and worms based on her behavior and where she came from.

Thank you for reaching out!

Can you post a photo of the worm?

After looking online, I suspect it was either a round, or an eye worm. I sure hop the 2 years old Valbazen still works!
I will give you another update!

Thank you for reaching out! I really appreciate all the support I can get! I lost the sweetest chick due to my stupidity and grieved deeply so my hubby went out and got me another. So I’m trying really hard not to loose this one, too. Loosing a chick that was only a couple days old was the hardest thing !

She’s declining. My heart is shattered again. I’m trying to give her comfort during the night. I think she will be gone by early morning.

i’ve been crying my heart out. i wish i could have a chance to show her love, kindness, happiness, and for her to know she’s like one of my children. She’s so very dear to me and I just wish I could see her thrive under my care.

I feel so hopeless...

Corid. I'd do it asap. Just to try.
i started Corid on Monday so today would be day 4. But she hasn’t been drinking much. i tried syringe it to her several times and she took a few drops. Her feet are curling in, she’s so thin, hasn’t made much noise at all. Hasn’t moved. I have her in a little basket, lined with soft cloth diapers, and under a heat pad.

Hopefully, she can feel some last comfort.
