We are on round two of an impacted crop. She was doing well for about 7 weeks. I saw in another post “tube watering”. what is it?? I used a syringe and gave her water and (a tiny bit of olive oil 1x day) throughout the day, removed her pellets and massaged her rock hard crop. In three days it was all clear.
So she’s coming inside as soon as I can get my “Emergency” crate & run area set up. I’m going to do the same thing. I’m open to suggestions.
The first impaction was cause by eating pine needles, there aren’t any more of them in their run. She also has been going through a hard molt which is almost over.

Tubing water is done with a catheter and a large volume syringe. You want to shoot for about 2-3 mls of body temperature water per 100 g of bird weight. Here is how you can do it if you have no helper:

After tubing, massage thoroughly and leave her with only water to drink. No food. Check her again in 1.5 hours to see if the crop has gone down. Repeat giving her water if it has.

You need to determine why she is impacted again. Hopefully, it will pass through and you can see what it is in her droppings.

Or if she's eating, you could just melt some coconut oil with her feed(crumbles or smashed pellets). That worked very well here.

I ordered a catheter & syringe that will be here tomorrow. She has a very large solid mass.
It’s getting smaller with water & massages twice a day (and a bit of olive oil once a day.)
when the mass gets smaller I will give her some food crumbles with water & oil.
