My 5 month old hen had sour crop 3 days ago. After massage, she expelled a lot of sour liquid. The past 2 days, I have massaged and a bit more liquid came from her beak. She is drinking and eating very little, getting weaker. I'm wondering if something is blocking the food from passing through her crop. I haven't seen worms in her stool. I have ACV and acidophilus in her water, gave her olive oil the first day. I've seen videos of cutting into the crop but have been afraid to try that. Anyone have a suggestion on how to clear this? No chicken vets in my area. Thanks!

Impacted crop and sour crop are different disorders, although they can overlap. Surgery is a drastic last resort for impacted crop too stubborn to clear with oil and massage. Please note that with sour crop, it's dangerous to massage the crop.

Thanks....she's been indoors since she became ill...I will see if I can get the coconut oil in her. Then will try the monistat. She's just a mixed breed but very sweet and I hope to save her.
