I have a bantam cochin and she recently started laying eggs. I noticed that she seem to have an impacted crop. She has constantly been eating sand in her bedding Her crop is firm and can i feel small stones and grit inside. She hadn’t pooped all night. Her crop was still full in the morning. Ive been massaging her crop every now and then and had restricted access to food though i did provide her water after a few hours. She did poop but not much i can still feel her crop being heavy and not completely drained. She also laid her egg normally and is eating drinking fine. I just cant understand what must i do because she seem to have taken eating sand into liking and can’t stop. Its like she’s addicted. Help

Does she have actual grit available?
I would cage her and withhold all food. Feed her some coconut oil pieces and massage. Keep water available

Cage her with water - always make water available during waking hours. Give her some coconut oil and massage the crop just a little. See if the crop will empty overnight.
Next day, offer her some wet feed and give her her more coconut oil.
When you get a chance, post some photos of her poop and of her too.

What do you feed?
Once the crop is emptying overnight for a couple of days, let her back out, but provide poultry grit (crushed granite). Sounds like she may be consuming a lot sand in search for suitable grit.
