Import/Export hatching-eggs

Hello at all,

I have one question:

Does anybody have an idea of import/export eggs from the USA to europe?

Here in europe he haven´t showgirlsilkies, but I want to have them. I would be no problem to create them, but I want to have "originals" from the USA.
Can anybody tell me something about the export rules from the USA?

Is it possible to bring eggs or chickens from the USA to germany legal?

My the time you got the eggs, they would be no good for anything. The cost would be a king's ransom. I have relatives the live in the Netherlands and was going to have them send me some eggs I wanted. After checking with the customs department, I found out the eggs would not reach me for 4 to 6 months at a cost of about $1200 US for each dozen eggs. To rich for my blood.
The place to start is with the U S Customs. They will supply you with all the regulations.

Your best bet would probably be a trio of adults. They'll have a long quarantine, but it would probably be easier. Still is going to be VERY expensive.

Last I checked here in the US for importing adult birds it's anywhere from $1000-$1500 per bird when all is said and done and they have to stay at a USDA quarantine facility for 30 days.

I don't know about leaving the U S going overseas. Some get around customs by having the eggs shipped to our northern friends, then bring them back via car. All that was pre 9-11, I don't know how that would work now. Still that is going the wrong way for you. Yes, it cost BIG BUCKS to bring birds into the states. Or an animal for that matter.

But how is it with export eggs?
Is it allowed to take them with you in the plane?

And does anybody know how it is to bring them to europe?

I think mcmurry hatchery sends new bloodlines to northern ireland every year but it is expensive!
I think its to late to order them now as the shipment is full.

I would just like to say that the Quarantines are in place for a reason. Is there a way to get around them? Probably. Should you? NO!!

Diseases can be transported with the eggs and foreign diseases can decimate populations. And all in the name of getting a novelty chicken. Going through the right channels may be cost prohibitive, but they are protecting all of our chickens!
