usually within the first 2 or 3 days the hen will take them out of the coop and teach them the ropes. It's normal. Just make sure that they are all in the coop at night.

I had the same thing happen, I netted the chicks and put them in a rabbit hutch then caught mama and added her to the hutch, they all calmed down and were safe and happy in the hutch.

Hens will take them out early. I used to have my coop down near my horse barn. Chickens love to poke around there for the alfalfa chaff and poke through manure etc. I finally had to quit free ranging because we lost so many chicks to predators and from being stepped on by the horses. If you can find her, keep an eye out to make sure she brings them back into the coop at night.

She didn't have them in the coop. I would have known. Yes, I have a broody hen in the nest box in the coop but she doesn't have anything under her.

Keep an eye on her to see where she goes and pick them up and put them in the coop at night. I've never had one leave the coop with chicks and not lead them back in at night.
