I tried to make a homemade incubator 5 days ago to set my serama eggs in. I set two eggs on the 27th and one on the 29. This was my test batch, and the humidity fluctuated from 30 to 70, and the temperature from 95 to 110. Needles to say, I didn't expect anything out of this "test". I FINALLY got the temp at a steady 99.6 with humidity at 60% TODAY (the first of february). For kicks, I tried to candle the eggs.

I saw the faintest spider-vein in one of the eggs I set on the 27th. Is this possible?!?

The eggs were in the WORST conditions for hatching!!! In fact, I even REFRIGERATED them for a day while assembling the homemade incubator!!!
Are eggs really this hardy?

There's no way, right?!?!?!

*also, I have been turning them 3 times a day*

Here's some shots, what do you think?

*Disclaimer; I've never ever candled eggs before, but this wasn't here yesterday!*

This sounds alot like my first hatch. out of 6 eggs i had 5 hatch after having a spike to 112 degrees.

Wow, I hope that this guy does ok! The other one set on the 27th has a red kinda circle thing that looks like the pictures of the bacteria... i just have to wait and see if it develops more!!!

Wow this is so exciting!

Someone unplugged the light. I woke up all ecstatic to see if it formed more, but they were 75º.

I'm so bummed!! I guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

Maybe It'll survive?

I am jealous, hopefully they make it to hatch day. Every single time I have tried serama eggs in the bator they end up making it full term and dying in the shell. They are VERY difficult to hatch in my incubator.
