My husband and I are starting to doubt that our bad luck is really bad luck. It's hard to believe that when in the last month:
1) All of our poultry (9 chickens and three ducks and one goose) were slaughtered. We found a coyote eating one in our ultra-suburban dog-proof yard... right after we lost three others over a few days... the coyote jumped OUT of the yard, clearing a 6 foot fence.
2) Our new dog that we got on MONDAY has vanished! From the dog-proof yard. And yes, we KNOW it's dog proof. There's no way she could have jumped out as she just came from a month in the pound and is in bad shape. We have been *everywhere* looking for her, and she's micro-chipped. My super-anti-paranoid hubby is starting to think we have meddlers...
I'm wondering now, if *people* killed our birds and the coyote was the clean up committee... and that our new dog has been stolen.
We've never had a complaint. Our new dog never even BARKED. It's insane. She's a gorgeous, but very shy/loyal border collie.
We have a big gang problem in this neighborhood and my MIL, who lives a 1/2 mile away, had one of her chickens legs tied together with twine and wrapped around her toes until she almost lost one...
What do you think? Bad luck? Or????
