Creating a red LF Cochin has been my project for quite some time. But I think I've hit a road block!
My original cross was Buff x Partridge. I've gotten to the point of a color that could be described as "orange Columbian" . Unfortunately I can't seem to get rid of the smut , mostly in the wings and of course in the tails. I've included pics from a couple of years ago, (they haven't improved much since)
Is there a way to drop the Columbian pattern and just have a solid red?

There seem to be a few genetic experts here lately, so I thought I'd throw this out and see what you all thought...
Any advice would be appreciated!

If you cross in another time to Buff Cochin, you will get rid of the smut and black in wings and tail. You will be adding red extenders to those areas. You will need to add mahogany to darken the red and eliminate dilute. Not an easy task Partridge was not such a good choice..Buff x Black ,cross together the F1 and f2,will sometimes give you a rich red.
