In Colorado, Rain Barrels Are Illegal......What????

I dont think you get what I'm saying. I don't really care what the gov't says. You can't cut off the basis of life, water, and meters would allow them to do that. Meters on wells of folks like me would only be to pay for the high-usage customers, anyway. The entire state of Georgia always suffers because of Atlanta.

We are a two person household in a small home that uses very little water other than to water the chickens and do an occasional load of laundry.

If my well is metered against my will, then that well will no longer be used, if you get my drift. And in the immortal words of Forrest Gump, that's all I have to say about that.

Water is a huge issue; especially in the West. As more and more of our population moves to marginal areas, with little water resources the issue will become more and more contentious. Water laws in California are arcane, Texas has rule of capture laws from the 1800's, Utah has laws on who can use irrigation ditches and other states are all over the map. If you have to decide how much water farmers producing food are allowed, how much are needed to keep estuaries and fish stocks healthy, how much can go to lawns and how much for households, you too would be looking at water in a different way.

Here in Texas we have been in extreme drought conditions. Some cities have watering regulations, some do not and virtually all in Central Texas get their water from the same sources. Who gets to say that San Antonio can't water their lawns but water intensive crops like cotton are still allowed to be irrigated, and fish hatcheries 200 miles from the ocean are allowed but watering golf courses are not? Do people who have 5000 sq ft 6 bedroom homes deserve more water than those with 1200 sq foot homes? Who gets the water, who does not?

I think in the coming decades water shortages will be as crucial as oil shortages, perhaps more so.

This makes me SO MAD! I did not know this! And Mr. Big-Shot-Parker-Water-Board man knows nothing about what we really need water for! They just want it for their cities. What is everyone going to eat if they take all of our water??

If there's not enough water for everyone in Denver to drink, they should leave! Aurora has been trying to take water out of the lower Arkansas river valley for years, re-route it to Denver, so they can keep growing the metropolis. They even tried to buy up all the farm ground, so that they could have the water rights with it, and then they would have the majority vote in water court.

It diddnt work, yet, but it will eventually, and this valley will all be a ghost town. Why dont people realize that, as modern as we become, agiculture is still the economic foundation of our society?

Come on folks! we all know that the Govt is just doing what is best for us! That is their job, we give them a third of our pay and follow all of their laws. They spend the money in all the right ways and we should be greatful!!

NOT!!! This is crazy! So what about air and sunshine and wind? If I have a solar panel is the govt gonna tax me because we all know sunshine is not really ours but the govt's? The govt has gone way off base and most people still think that the US Govt is still gonna bail us all out and then the little flowers will start popping up and all the animals will start singing Disney songs.

I'm surprised no one mentioned water use by golf courses. We have water use restrictions here in Florida almost continuously now - but the golf courses look green and lush all the time.

Wow! This falls under the category of "just when I think I've heard it all." Really? Regulating wells and rain barrels?

All I can say is that I hope this law is overturned.

Save the Rain Barrels!!!!

make sure to send them their "rainwater " that has collected in the septic tank!! don't want to waste a precious drop. until they MAKE it rain, i do not see them owning a natural resource. what a load of crap!
