She was a year old...we will sure miss her, and so will her best friend, Henna. I just don't understand what happened.

Oh my goodness there is no telling. I lost my light brahma at 9 months old. she was fine all day and that evening at bedtime she would not come. she was listless all night and died the next morning in my arms. I had 2 vets working on finding out what was wrong.

She had a heart infection at birth and it finally got her...she had cardiac failure. Her gettign bigger and laying eggs just was too much for her heart I think.

Sometimes there is just nothing you could have done.

I do not get these unexpected chicken deaths.
I lost my beautiful White Plymouth Rock Rooster yesterday.
No marks, he did not seem to be sick and that day he was
running with the WPR hens. I found him on the floor in the
wire mesh stalls I have for the safety of the chickens.
So no predator got him, I do not think. I am just baffled.

Sorry for your loss, that was a beautiful hen. I sure you
gave her a wonderful home and she was very comfortable
with you.

I'm so sorry you lost that beautiful girl. It's never easy. My birds give me such joy. I remember each one I've lost, their personalities, their voices, the expression in their eyes. She was well-loved, I can tell.
