One of my first four chickens that I EVER had passed away a few weeks ago. She was a Barred Rock and I had raised her and three other hens as chicks. She was the most forward of the chicks I had and for a while we thought she was a rooster, could of sworn she crowed once..:] And one time I remember I gave the chicks [who then were in my room..not the best idea..] small pieces of bread, and of course there was a mad rush to finish of the bread quickly, and Henrieta [as my uncle named her] pulled on the leg of one of her sisters to steal a small piece of bread out of her mouth!

She was the first to discover worms and always rushed to the edge of the shovel when I was digging for worms. She would even jump up in the air to reach for something I was holding in my hand!

She died at the age of 1.5, after getting sick and dying over night. She will be remembered always!

Here she is...she was very photogenic :]

Thank you for sharing your pictures and the story of Henrietta.
I am sorry for your loss.

What a beautiful photogenic bird! Such a shame that our favorite birds always seem to pass away without warn. I'm sorry for the loss, but here's some hugs though!

I'm sorry about Henrietta. Those Barred Rocks are a sassy breed, aren't they.
Glad you have fond memories of your girl.
