So my neighbor bought 4 chickes to help with the tics in his yard... 3 died and the the one that didnt somehow kept getting in my garage so finnaly i started to feel a connection she took to our family and she does tricks she comes when i call her i even let the kids name her and took time to build her a coupe by hand i know ignorance is no excuse but i honestly didnt know that there are laws for owning a chicken. Shes more than just a farm animal shes our family pet and the kids love her and as silly as it sounds so do i. Ive been dealing with a lot these past few months and started spending a lot of time outside with nugget( the chicken) i feel like she has helped my depression and anxiety on several occasions. And now im facing losing her out of fear of some nosey ass neighbor who has nothing else better to do than complain. For 1 my chicken doesnt bother the neighbors on either side of me ive made sure of that. And 2 she never goes near your house. And 3 its none of your business what i do on the property i pay for. So now my kids will suffer the loss of a pet/family member and the loss of life lessons such as responsibility for feeding and cleaning and getting food from them like eggs, survival if you will. I cant just spit out 200 dollars to maybe be told its ok. Something needs to be done about this we all need to come together and get the news channel involved.

I'm sorry you're stuck in this situation but unfortunately if your neighborhood says no chickens allowed then no chickens are allowed.

The $200 you just spent... What exactly did you spend it on?

Is it your neighborhood that says no chickens allowed or is it your city?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Sorry about your predicament. Have you checked with the town to ensure the chickens are in fact not permitted? Many areas do permit a certain number of chickens. Find out first if they are allowed. If they are not, you don't have a lot of recourse other than to try to find a good home for her. Good luck.
