In Need of Advice for a Chicken/Garden Fence

Instead of fencing the chickens 'in', I'm creating a fence around two raised garden beds to keep the chickens 'out'. Finding wire fencing at a decent price for 60 feet is becoming an ordeal.

I need some wire fencing that is stiff, but holes not too large to trap the chickens. One suggestion has been a 2" x 3" wire. Is that opening too large?

Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

If you have holes that are too small, the chickens might get their heads stuck. Two by three is what I have used before. I should work okay if you are not using it to keep predators out.
