Hi there would like some advice on fattening show chicken. My son has a show coming up in 5 weeks, we are currently feeding Purina feed. I've read all sorts of things to do; to make them pick up weight including adding different types of things to the feed. I'm not looking for a miracle just something good old fashioned and works. Hope someone out here can help us. This is our first show.

Welcome to BYC![IMG] We're glad to have you.

I've never raised show meat chickens myself, so I can't help you with any actual experience. Hopefully, some other members who have raised meat birds comes along and helps you out! Here are some links on raising meat birds for show, which could be helpful in the mean time:

    Welcome to BYC!

You will find a lot of good information here. Keep on asking questions and you will get many good answers.

You may also want to read the FAQ below.

The normal advice seems to be to give higher protein feed and a little oil in the feed for sheen.
