I like her too, but every time I see one of her recipes, I think, "DANG. Paula Deen WANTS US DEAD." She did a sandwich one time that used Krispy Kreme donuts for the "bun," then added a meat patty, cheese, bacon, and a FRIED EGG. Seriously, y'all. Paula wants you dead.

My husband's celebrity cook crush is The Barefoot Contessa. He LOVES her. No sexy Nigella or other Italian siren for him, no sir. Every time TBC cooks, he sighs longingly, and says, "Her husband is SO lucky."

Thats so funny. When I make chicken and dumpling I swear the temp in the house is on 100 degrees. I get so hot.

Awww James-he was a dear friend of the family. And what a fabulous cook!
I use good ol' Betty C for my biscuits-they are delish.

I was raised on 1234 biscuits:

1tsp Salt
2Cups AP flour
3tsp baking powder
4Tbsp Crisco

Sift the dries dries, cut in the crisco (I use the sticks and keep in the fridge...they have measuring lines like butter) with a pastry knife or two butter knifes until the flour gains the consistency of corn meal. Add a scant cup of milk, knead heavily or lightly (I've found more kneading gives better rise) roll, cut, bake at ~425 until barely golden (12-15 minutes)

I think my oven temperature gage is wonky, plus I'm baking at altitude so you may have to play with the cook time/temp. Mom seemed surprised I cooked them that hot...so it could be my oven is shot - or being at 6000 ft. I'm not sure which

Oh, it's super-easy. You can't mess 'em up. I usually do them at about 375 degrees or sometimes even 400, just watching them 'til they're done. They'll take at least 15-20 minutes, or maybe more, depending on size/oven temp.

Easiest Biscuits Ever!! The cheater's biscuits!

1 cup of sour cream
2 cups of bisquick

Mix together and hand roll the biscuits and cook in 400 degree until golden brown.
