My poor guinea that was early couldn't get out of the shell. I helped it but it was weak and didn't make it.
One of my hydrometers said 78% humidity and the other said 68%. I just averaged them out and thought it'd be fine but the membranes were DRY on the guinea egg. I added hot water to the channels. One now says 80% and the other says 78%. Much better. One of my son's OEGB eggs hatched out a little bit ago
, it really wasn't due until tomorrow but the momma had sat on it for a couple days before I had to take them. When the hatch is over I'll take pics of the little ones and post them. I have one of the old Hova bators and my windows are small and opaque. So it sucks that I cannot take pics of it in the bator. My husband's uncle has a friend that used to raise emus and ostriches who has a Sportsman that I can borrow for as long as I want because he doesn't use it anymore. Hopefully I will be able to convince him to sell it to me when I actually have some money.
After we get back from our 4th of July family reunion, I'm going to start loading it every week with guinea eggs or duck eggs. I was able to sell my ducklings that the kiddos ducks had hatched out, so maybe I'll be able to make a little money. I only have 2 guinea hens though.
