Went out to check on my baby flock (14 weeks old) this morning and I saw that a wild bird, a wren, had somehow got trapped in the pen with them and was frantically flying around.
Instead of being afraid of it, as I thought the chicks would be, they were stalking it! With my cockerel in the lead, they were waiting for the bird to land on something and then slowly sneaking up on it.
Once again I am thankful that I'm too big to be considered a meal. Bunch of yard sharks.

Trust me, despite my size they wouldn't think twice about it should I be knocked unconscious in the chicken yard.

That gave me a laugh then a chill! I've seen the way my flock will rip a mouse apart! They are the best mousers but I've also seen how they tear into a chicken that has been hurt by a predator. *shiver* I hope I never pass out in the yard!

Because they can't ignore the dinner bell long enough to conquer it?
