*~|Chapter One: Prince Rocky|~*

Rocky yawned and stretched, sticking his little toes out, and raking his claws in the dirt, before gathering himself into a standing position. Blinking his eyes in the dim light of the cozy, warm den, he looked around. A mass of silver and white fur lay at the end of the den; it was Cliff and Yuka. "Mom-m-mom, can I go outside? Mom?" he whined, trying to wake her. Yuka lifted her head, and her maw parted in a gaping yawn, exposing her pink tongue and sharp teeth for a brief moment, before she gently closed her jaws and looked at Rocky. "Only if you stay right outside the den." she smiled.

"Yay, thanks, Mom!" Rocky squealed, before nudging his mother with his cold black nose. Then he darted from the den as quick as a startled rabbit, disappearing into the dim shadows. Yuka yawned again, and flopped down on the den floor beside her mate, Cliff, in hopes of getting a little more rest before full sun.

Rocky had reached the den entrance, and was looking around with his big brown eyes. He'd never been away alone; suddenly his maw broke into a sly grin. What if he went out to explore while his parents slept? He peeked back into the den, and looked at his mother and father. They were still sleeping peacefully, unaware of what their deceitful son was planning. Rocky nodded his head, as if telling himself, "Yes, let's do it!" and he turned to leave the den.

As he walked from the cavern, he looked at his surroundings, his eyes big with awe and fascination. Once or twice, a hawk swooped overhead, and he cringed, or dove into a bush, but aside from that, he was thoroughly enjoying himself. As he strolled on, he looked back at his home, where his mother and father lay, and he felt a pang of guilt for being so deceitful. Suddenly, he bumped into something; something big..., black..., and hairy. He looked up, and found himself gazing into a pair of soulless golden eyes.
WOW!!! Your an amazing writer!!! WAY better than I am!!! I wish i could write like you

*~|Chapter Two: Rocky Meets Darkus|~*

Rocky stood, trembling, before the black mass of wiry black fur. The form was massive, with sharp claws set on firm, black paws. The legs were thick and muscular, attached to a deep, muscular chest. The head was well set on a pair of buff shoulders, and atop his skull were a pair of pitch black, triangular ears. The glittering yellow-gold eyes blinked, and the animals expression remained emotionless. Rocky continued sizing up the creature, then breathed a sigh of relief as he recognized who it was.

"Oh, Darkus, it's only you!" he said, his voice shaky. Darkus's eyes narrowed, as it was clear to him that the pup had been filled with fear, but was trying to hide it. He spoke in a low, raspy voice; "You're Highness should not be out here all alone; Your Highness should be safe with your Mommy and Daddy."

Rocky rolled his eyes; "C'mon, Darkus, really? I'm old enough to take care of myself, now! I don't need them." He put on a pouty expression, and drooped his tail. "You stunk of fear, young boy! Anything that would catch whiff of that would kill you." he sneered. "But you are right: you are big and strong. You can take care of yourself, now."

The deceitful wolf grinned, but it wasn't a whole-hearted merry grin of good intention; it was the grin of someone who had devious plans that promised much sorrow and trouble.

Rocky took no notice. This was his first sign, and he had missed it. Darkus gestured to a gloomy section of the woods. "In there..." he crooned, "You will find your destiny; go on... your future awaits." Rocky peeked forward, peering into the gloomy forest. "I-I don't want to go in there." he whimpered, backing away and hiding underneath Darkus. The evil wolf's face fell, and he glared at the pup. "Then you are a coward!" he spat.

Rocky nodded; "I know. I just... don't wanna go in there." and he turned and ran home, small tears pricking at his eyes. Darkus's laughter seemed to chase him, keeping up with him and ringing in his ears.
