In the wrong for asking for refund for shipped eggs that were completely shattered?

I ordered some pretty expensive eggs. It was an assortment of rare breeds. They shipped them to me and when I went to the post office to get them the bottom was wet and I knew I had atleast one broken one. She sent me extras 15 instead of 12. They put them in a egg carton in a box and that was it and taped it shut with a thin bubble wrap on the sides.

All my eggs but 6 were shattered and then those six had cracks in them that I’ve waxed together. I asked for a partial refund since I didn’t even get the dozen I paid for and she said no. I asked if she could send me 6 more eggs then and she said no.

Told me that was the risk of buying shipped eggs but I’ve bought shipped eggs before and this is the first time I’ve had broken ones due to packaging and not just rough handling. The other sellers I use have always securely packaged my eggs and sent extras for the off chance one or two break.

Am I being unreasonable. I’m thinking about filing a complaint with eBay. The cracks in the 6 were just to much and I have one egg left from the bunch that wasn’t cracked or shattered. I’m heartbroken as I really wanted those breeds. Guess I’ll look for another seller.

I would definitely either make her refund your money or replace the eggs. She didn't package them correctly, so she should make her mistake right. If she doesn't give you a refund or replacements, I would file a complaint with ebay.

I second. A hairline crack in one or two I can understand but they should have packaged them properly if they were not wanting to risk being asked about a refund or replacements

I agree, if packed poorly, it is really on the seller and not the post office. Best packaging is a box inside a box with thick packing material between the two boxes. Most breeders do not ship inside the egg carton. They either individually wrap each egg in bubble wrap or use egg foam.

All of mine came in egg foams that even protected an egg from the corner of the box getting smashed in. I didn't have a single egg even get a scuff. My quail eggs came like that, and then in a bigger box that had paper shreds all around it to add even more cushion. I felt so valued with those eggs being sent that way

Wow, yes that is like throwing a porcelain statue in a box loose and expecting it to arrive in tact? Of course it's the sellers fault. I would complain all day long.
