I had been told that broadcasters accents were do to the Chicago Manual of Style. Apparantly, that doesn't mean that they speak with a Chicago accent

The Chicago Manual of Style is a grammar, composition and style book used mostly by writers, editors and publishers. It has nothing to do with accents or regionalisms, just with correct, clear and coherent use of the language.
