Pffffft. Ask one o' them what a "receiver" is!!! Slamming the receiver down onto the cradle used to be SO satisfying! For that matter, "cradle" (on a phone) is another antiquated telephone term.

I took my 10 year old nephew to a yard sale yesterday and he saw an old rotary dial wall phone. He was fascinated with it and wanted to know how it worked and kept dialing numbers. Said we should have them again.

We kept ours as long as we could. "press 1 for english" eventually forced the change.....

There are apps that display a dial on your smart phone, but you just push the numbers instead of having to drag them in a circle. The novelty wears off very quickly.

I had one on my door..loved throwing insects to it!

We have them all over right now. I love having them around ~ although I have to keep a close eye on where they are so I don't walk through them!
