Rebel, I'm sure that container is built like that because noodles must need air space on both top and bottom - so they can breathe while cooking.

no, I'm just kidding. I agree with diva, I think it is so that they can swell up and down and all around like the hokey pokey.
But, the question is, how do they do that? They must form them in another container and dump them in that one.

3goodeggs actually I was being sarcastic - all sorts of items seem to be way over packaged in regard to the actual product. Goes hand in hand with - same great product new packaging - leaves out part about price increase.

Usually there is a disclaimer: product contains full weight listed - contents may have settled in packaging. I wish my weight would settle so I'd look like less too.

I have never cooked them. I am not sure I have ever even seen those noodle cups at the store. I am not to good to open a bag an pour in in a pan on the stove.
