What a shame, I know what you mean about mamas, I raised cockers for years - Breeze, Blondie, & Zooey were the best mothers, the rest, I ended up tube feeding.

I have never had any luck hand raising them. Its something that takes some skill that I dont have. I have not had many dogs that were not good moms though. But I only breed the fawn colored girls. I may get 3 fawn female puppies a year an one in 10 are to the standard that I have set for me to keep an raise them. Then they have to be 2 years old to breed for the first time so I have 5 years of work in every female. By that time they are family.

5 dogs are to much for my house too so change is needed. I am really thinking about turning about an acre in to a pasture/kennel type setup. All my dogs have always been house dogs so it would be a big change.

You're right, he made a few half attempts but he got scared. My mama hens would have.

I bet. It would really be a single kennel that covers one acre with a 4x8 dog house.

There was this article that my son showed me about 'cuteness aggression'. Apparently it isn't good to say things like, "It's so cute, I could squeeze it till it pops!."
PC police move over.
But even this little guy is gripping its chest in the cuteness of it all.

That I would have to figure out how to handle. Not a big issue with pugs though. I don't usually handle them until they are 6 weeks old an they think they need to be held all the time from then on.
