Hard to explain without spending hours on his history. Short version is that he was a military screw up who was best known for surviving his mistakes. He married money which later got him a political seat. That got him in the room of the second Continental congress. He dressed to the 9s as military royalty. No one could miss him. He spent a fortune to sell the idea of a military leader. When they got down to talking war no one could help but look at him. He was offered command more cause of his clothing than any skill or fame.

Certainly some post processing, balance, sharpness, etc, but the basic shot is a real shot, no cloning or paste-up.
