I was just back at the cemetery in Genoa, Italy and took another 400 photos, including these. It's the 1913 Scala tomb, sculpted by Ettore Sclavi. The theme is based on the Ride of the Valkyries from a Wagners opera. The young woman, hair blowing in the wind, triumphs over everything as her horse slices through flowers and weeds, symbolically cutting through young and old, good and bad.
