in this random rambling thread we post random pictures

That's one cool chicken coop. I like the way it's an island, makes it safer to free range. Land based predators can be kept out. Also, lots of places for the girls to hide from hawks, so you don't need to worry much. :D

Mud bath at the dog park. Glad I didn't have to deal with it :gig

Monarch caterpillar - haven't seen one in ages. When we moved in many years ago, loads of Monarchs used to rest/hang out on a tree at end of drive way. I suppose on their way to Mexico. Then each year we'd get less and less and now if we see one at all it is a major event.:(

That's truly sad.

YES it is. Not only that Brookfield Zoo has a protected outdoor area where you can enter and see many types of butterfly for a fee. Reminds me of that old song "Big Yellow Taxi," where they round up all the trees and put them in a tree museum." Pave paradise and put up a parking lot." Then people wonder about all the flooding.

South end of my block is Forest Preserve - lately they(?) have cut back the trees that were close to the road- so there is at least a 6 ft. setback. Hope they aren't planning to widen the street.
